Marc Ruygrok
Marc Ruygrok
Marc Ruygrok (Voorburg 1953) is a Dutch artist
educated at the Rijksacademie Amsterdam and Ateliers 63 in Haarlem. Since 1980 his
work is shown in many solo- and group exhibitions. Marc Ruygrok lives and works
in Den Oever, North Holland.
Marc Ruygrok makes both autonomous artworks
(drawings, paintings, sculptures) as monumental works in commission for public
buildings and public spaces. His work can be typified as spatial poetry or
architectural typography. Often his artworks are made out of letters or combinations
of short words. The play with scale is an important theme. Ruygrok gives words
the scale of buildings and the city the size of a text. In the world of Marc
Ruygrok you must read the small letters carefully!
Cityscapes Gallery offers a selection of
artworks (prints, drawings, paintings, sculptures) in which Ruygrok explores the
cutting edges of sculpture and architecture and poetry and the city.
